ECCE 228 Observation, Assessment and Guidance in Early Childhood EducationThis course is an examination of appropriate guidance techniques for young children with an emphasis on direct and indirect guidance. Students will learn how to systematically observe and record children’s development by completing an in-depth study of one child within their student teaching placement. Students will examine the stages of play, and learn how to use indirect and direct guidance to facilitate play. Students will explore how children learn math, science, social studies, language and literacy through play and make connections to their field placement observations. 80 hours of fieldwork are required in this course.
