MCTS 200 Automation Technology

This course is a study of different types or industrial manufacturing systems focusing on the electrical control sub-systems. It will cover process manufacturing, including discrete, on/off, continuous, batch and cascade control systems. Equipment such as PLC’s, HMl’s, VFD’s, and the like, will be analyzed and studied extensively. Program design and commissioning will be practiced along with the use of sensing devices such as differential pressure cells, 1-P and P-1 transducers, flow meters and measurement, along with calibration techniques for these types of instruments. Students will research, design and commission a system as part of the final project to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of automated manufacturing systems.
