CVIT 258 Cardiovascular Interventional Technology Clinic I

This course is a beginning skills level clinical experience. This course provides clinical rotation hours at a clinical affiliation’s supervised laboratory hours that allow the student to apply information and skills gained from didactic instruction in patient assessment and 
care, as well as demonstrate familiarization with cardiac catheterization laboratory equipment in relation to scrub and circulating roles. The student performs skills which include sterile scrub performance, sterile gowning and gloving techniques, preparation of the bubble-less manifold, sterile-tray setting, and power-injector setting, as well as performance of skills required to assist physicians during diagnostic heart catheterizations and diagnostic peripheral procedures.
NOTE: Open only to matriculated Cardiovascular Intervention Technology students.
Pre-requisite(s): AAS Degree in Radiology Technology and ARRT Board Certification Completion, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for health care providers. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Co-requisite(s): CVIT 252 Patient Care for Cardiovascular Interventional Technology CVIT 254 Cardiovascular Interventional Technology I , and ECHO 256 Anatomy and Physiology of The Heart
