BIOL 149 Medical General Biology IIThis course is the second term of a two-term medical general biology sequence designed to meet requirements for students interested in a pre-med program. Topics covered include a survey of the five kingdoms and three domains of life, with an emphasis on land plants and vertebrate animals. Plant anatomy and reproduction are studied using flowering plants as the primary example. Animal systems (circulatory, digestive, reproductive, etc.) are studied using mammals as the primary example. Biomedical application of concepts and case studies are emphasized. Laboratory exercises correlate to lecture topics and involve simulated dissection and medical application. High school level biology preparation is recommended.
