ELET 261 Semiconductor and Nanotech OverviewThis course introduces the student to employment opportunities in the microchip fabrication, nanotechnology and electronics industries. The course provides an overview of the semiconductor industry and nanotechnology fields as well as modules on the protocols and safety procedures required in semiconductor facilities, industry skill requirements and an introduction to materials chemistry processing fundamentals. Additional modules are included on the basics of silicon manufacture, backend chip processing, integration into electronics and high technology applications. The course will include tours of actual semiconductor and electronics manufacturing facilities industry as well as thin film and materials laboratories at local universities. Pre-requisite(s): Math I and II or 2 units of equivalent academic math with a 70 or higher average or MATH 150 College Algebra with Trigonometry with a “C” or higher.
