MECT 130 ElectricityThis course is an introduction to the basic principles of electricity and electronics. Topics include electrical units, AC and DC current, voltage, resistance, power, series and parallel circuits, inductance, capacitance, transformers, three wire and three phase systems, basic control, power diodes, the SCR, the LED, transistors, speakers and logic gates. Laboratory experiments closely parallel and are correlated with theory. The purpose of this course is not to provide an in-depth analysis of each topic, but to provide an overview to give the nonelectrical major exposure to the scope of the field.
