PHYS 251 Modern PhysicsA calculus-based physics course in which the student is introduced to quantum mechanics, atomic structure, molecular and statistical physics, the solid state, nuclear and particle physics and modern theories of cosmology. The student also acquires considerable skill in the use of advanced optical apparatus and precision data reduction. (Formerly entitled General Physics IV.) Pre-requisite(s): PHYS 250 Physics III .
