ASLN 200 American Sign Language and Deaf Culture IIIAmerican Sign Language and Deaf Culture III builds on previously learned skills while offering more intermediate vocabulary. Emphasis is placed on the development of communicative competencies in ASL conversations beyond the basic level, including decoding classifiers, storytelling, detailed descriptions, elaboration on information and resolving conflicts. This course will discuss Deaf culture and history along with issues, norms, values and attitudes of the Deaf community locally, nationally, and globally. It also covers society’s perspectives and views on the Deaf community.
