The Micro-credential CASAC Core III micro-credential is the third and final credential required for individuals to complete the core educational components by OASAS to receive their CASAC-T. The final credential focuses on special areas of treatment and assessment. A second internship with the successful completion of 168 field hours in an approved OASAS facility and seminar are also required. Additionally this credential focuses on working with diverse populations and understanding the social and cultural norms associated with addictions. Content focuses on developing a foundation for cultural competence and developing the ability to adjust assessment and treatment planning to cultural characteristics of clients.

Within the seminar setting students will be provided supervision related to their field experience. The seminar will provide students with the continued ability to reflect on their professional roles and personal effectiveness as an addictions counselor. Special attention will also address the importance of self-care in an effort to prevent burn-out in the field.

Student must complete CDEP 250/251 with a grade of “C” or betterin order to be eligible for CDEP 255/256
