The Micro-Credential in Advanced Direct Care Knowledge is the third and final credential being offered for direct care workers. This final credential focuses on special areas of interest for direct care workers based on the populations they serve. The credential allows workers to choose electives to advance their knowledge in specific content areas and current trends related to their work environments. The credential provides advance knowledge in the areas of psychology, mental health, and addictions. Additional content focuses on cultural competency, self-well-being and personal effectiveness. The content is designed to further increase the professional identity of workers while providing them with effective tools to be used as intervention strategies.
Micro-credential Pre-requisite:
PSYC 100 General Psychology is a pre-requisite for the PSYC 200, 210 and 235. Students will have a choice of all three courses as possible electives for completion of the credential.

Suggested Course Sequence
It should be noted that the credential can be completed in less than two terms if the student chooses to take courses on the Hudson Valley campus in addition to the course being offered at NorthernRivers.
