BCOM 261 Radio and Television Arts IIThis course advances the student to the next level in their broadcasting career. Emphasis is on the professional development of the voice and delivery as well as the study of programming with regard to format, music, promotions and ethics and their effects on public opinion, ratings, sales and the overall marketability of the radio station. Students may also enter the world of entertainment television with optional training for on-camera commercials, interview shows and hosting shows such as music video countdowns. Both on-camera and limited behind-the-scenes equipment operation are taught. Independence is stressed, and classes simulate a “real-world” working environment. NOTE: This course is taught at The New School as part of the A.A.S. in Broadcast Communications. Pre-requisite(s): BCOM 260 Radio and Television Arts I or permission of department chair; completion of all other previous program coursework with an average of “C” or better or approval of department chair.
