CIVL 234 Transportation and Highway Systems AnalysisThis is a comprehensive course in the analysis of issues on planning and implementing a large-scale transportation project. Topics covered include an introduction to transportation systems planning, economics, and land use. The study of vehicular characteristics, as they pertain to the transportation system, is developed, with particular emphasis on highway and urban street capacities. Geometric design is introduced with its impact on the transport system. The entire scale of transportation systems are covered, as well as urban transportation planning, local traffic management, Transportation Systems Management, system improvements, and safety. Pre-requisite(s): MATH 150 College Algebra with Trigonometry or higher and CIVL 111 Civil Engineering Applications or by permission of department chair.
