CISS 121 Networking II- Intro to Network AdministrationThis course builds on the foundation developed in CISS 120 , and extends the student’s capability to understand and manage data networks. The course covers three basic areas: Local Area Network (LAN) management, 802.11 wireless access, and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies. The LAN management portion explores the switched network, with emphasis on Virtual LANs, Spanning Tree, Inter-VLAN routing and wireless access protocols. The WAN Technology component covers layer 2 protocols such as PPP and Frame-Relay, Access Control Lists and their application to network security, Network Address Translation (NAT), and an introduction to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). This hands-on course utilizes the college’s networking laboratories and the Cisco Network Academy resources. Successful completion of CISS 120 and CISS 121 provides the student with all requisite knowledge for the topics covered in the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification exam. NOTE: The Cisco certification exams are not offered through the college since they are industry-controlled certifications. Pre-requisite(s): CISS 120 Networking I- Intro to Data Communication .
