CRJS 220 Security LawThis course is designed to acquaint students with basic legal issues facing the private police officer. Students will examine the general sources of legal powers and limitations concerning private police, including an overview of substantive criminal law. Major topics will include the relative legal powers of private citizens, private and public police; investigator function of private police, law of arrest, search and seizure; use of force; and the legal relationship between users and providers of private security services.
