MTSC 105 Burial CustomsThis course examines ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary burial customs. Historical, sociological, religious and cultural perspectives are studied. Special emphasis is placed on the emergence of the American funeral service. Topical areas of discussion include western attitudes toward death and dying, funeral service organizations and associations, the history of embalming and specialized religious and fraternal services.
