The CASAC Educational Core I Microcredential is intended to provide the beginning pre-requisite courses for individuals looking to acquire their CASAC-T and who have an existing degree in a relevant field. Prospective students do not need to be employed in the field.
Content for this microcredential will help individuals develop working knowledge of the addictions field (CDEP 100 Introduction to Chemical Dependency ) and various stages of the family life cycle and family related stressors in our society today (HUSV 105 Human Development and The Family ). Additionally, HUSV 205 Introduction to Social Group Work will provide students with an understanding of group dynamics and the ability to acquire and demonstrate their command of required group skills as a facilitator in various settings. Pharmacology and Physiology (CDEP 105 Pharmacology and Physiology of Addiction ) provides students with beginning information related to the chemical and physical processes related to abuse and addiction. Further course content also focuses on the medical problems of recovering addicts and psychotopic drugs as they relate to mentally ill chemical abusers. This microcredential is the first in a series of three stackable credentials.
